How do I request a money order refund?
If you are the purchaser, request a refund by following these simple steps.

- Accept the terms and conditions and submit the form.
If you have your original money order or your purchaser’s receipt and your money order has been cashed:
To request a photocopy of the proof of payment, please mail the completed form along with the 15 USD non-refundable processing fee with a money order or check payable to Western Union Financial Services, Inc. The address will be mentioned on your receipt.
Please allow us 30 days to process your refund request.
If you don’t have your original money order or your purchaser’s receipt and your money order has not been cashed:
- Print the form and enter the details.
- Notarize the form.
- Send the notarized form along with the required documents showing you as a purchaser by email to RMO@westernunion.com³.
- Please note that a non-refundable processing fee of 30 USD will be automatically deducted from your principal refund amount.
If you don’t have your original money order or your purchaser’s receipt and your money order has been cashed:
To request for a photocopy of the proof of payment, please mail the completed form along with the 30 USD non-refundable processing fee with a money order or check payable to Western Union Financial Services, Inc. The address will be mentioned on your receipt.
Note: Processing may take 6 to 8 weeks, and you may not be eligible for a refund.
*These documents could include the original store cash register receipt, copies of other money orders or their receipts purchased at the same time, bank statement showing the payment, or copies of other money orders purchased for the same purpose and same amount (i.e., rent or mortgage).

- For your own records, please make and retain the copies of all the documents you send.
- The money order receipt must accompany each request to avoid delay in processing.
- Stop payment on an outstanding money order is completed only when the request has been submitted and processed.
- Western Union does not control the mailing process and it may take an additional 10-15 days.
- We cannot verify if a customer is the true purchaser when you call Customer Care. This purchase agreement is stated on the money order receipt.
- If the money order has been cashed, a photocopy will be mailed to you only when the processing fee is received.
- If funds are available, you will receive a refund check. If the processing fee is not sent, it’s automatically deducted from the principal refund amount.
- Fill out the Money Order Refund Request form on the back of your receipt.
