I can probably guarantee that either you or someone in your family owns a smartphone. And although they are useful gadgets, they aren’t cheap.

To compensate for that, get savvy and start using your phone to earn cash with some money making apps!

Skint Dad has searched the universe (well the Google Play and App Store) to bring together a list of free money making apps that will put cash in your pocket.

Whether it’s scanning receipts, taking surveys, voicing your opinion or playing games; these apps can turn your spare time into a money making machine!

Money Making Apps

CheckoutSmart

CheckoutSmart is a great tool to earn cashback on your supermarket shop.

After you’ve been shopping, you are able to upload your receipt to their app. However, if you don’t have a flashy smartphone then you can upload the receipt directly to their website too! Read up on my full Checkout Smart review.

Deals are updated each week.

Swagbucks

With Swagbucks, you earn SB (or Swagbucks) for doing things like completing surveys, playing games, shopping, watching videos or using their site as a search engine.

While you aren’t able to do everything via their apps, you can use their SBTV app to watch videos and earn a few SB on the go.

The points add up quick enough for you to cash out. Read up on a full Swag Bucks review by Skint Dad contributor Lorna who (at the point in writing) had earned over £100 in Amazon vouchers!

EarnApp

Earn Amazon gift cards by using the EarnApp when you don’t use your phone.

To earn on the app, you cannot be using your phone, it needs to have battery or be charging, and you need to be connected to WiFi.

When you’re not using your phone (which can be around 21 hours a day!), the app will then send secure traffic through your phone, using only your IP address, and then you earn money.

Storewards

Available for both Apple and Android users, Receipt Hog lets you earn points for taking photos of your receipts.

With this money-making app, you save your points up until you can exchange them for cash via PayPal or you can opt for an Amazon voucher instead.

Snap & Save

Brought to you from TopCashback, Snap and Save is available as an app but you can also access the deals via their website. Simply browse through the offers and see what featured items you can earn money back on.

Then after you’ve been shopping you take a photo of your receipt and claim money back on your purchase – sometimes as much as 100%!

You can get cashback with grocery items but they sometimes have special deals for things like 100% cashback on a cinema ticket.

With the app, you take a photo of your receipt and upload it to the offer. If you don’t have access to your phone, you are able to upload a scanned image of your receipt straight to the website. your cashback will then accumulate in your account.

ClickSnap

You are able to earn cashback on your supermarket spend with money making app ClickSnap from Quidco. You no longer need to spend ages writing to companies asking for a voucher or scouring the internet looking for a coupon to print.

You have three choices to earn cashback with ClickSnap. You can either shop in store and take a picture within the app, or upload a picture of your receipt on the website.

Alternatively, you can share the account details of the online supermarket you use and after you’ve shopped any featured items will be credited in your account as cashback.

The shops you can earn from are Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Ocado, Morrisons, Aldi and Lidl.

After you’ve been shopping, simply snap a photo of your receipt (even if you’ve just spent £1) and you can earn money to spend on whatever you want.

Here are the best apps you need to be using.

And the best thing…you can use all the apps at the same time – meaning one receipt can earn you money on every single app!

Store Rewards

STOREWARDS lets you earn points when you take photos of your receipts. You collect 600 points for each receipt, plus bonuses as you scan more, and daily sign in bonuses.

Use the Store Rewards promo code QGFJX and get 250 extra coins.

You save your points up until you can exchange them for cash via PayPal or you can choose an Amazon voucher instead.

Shoppix

Earn Money Shopping App Uk

Snap photos of your receipts and you earn tokens that you can save up for Amazon, iTunes or Love2Shop vouchers.

On top of earning token from your receipts, you can earn more points by taking part in short surveys and scanning regularly, which will move you “up the shelves” for more bonuses.

The app is available on both the App Store and GooglePlay.

Use the Shoppix referral code 3B74ZJ55 to get a bonus 200 token when you join.

SnapMyEats

Answer a few questions about what you eat, take a photo of your food/drink receipt and earn. You’re able to earn gift cards when you take pictures of your receipts and just 3 receipts a month will earn you £1. Taking photos of 15 receipts will earn you £5 a month.

If you buy breakfast, snacks, the odd coffee on the go from fast food or restaurants then you can make a few quid back easily with this app. Plus, they offer bonus opportunities and extra gifts too.

SnapMyEats is available on both the Apple app store and Google play store.

HuYu

Scan your in-store receipts with the HuYu app to earn points which you can swap for rewards.

You’re only able to use grocery receipts from Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose, Aldi, Lidl and Co-op.

You can also boost your earnings by completing short surveys within the app.

You earn 5 points per receipt and can cash out shopping vouchers when you hit 500 points.

Zipzero

With Zipzero, you’re able to earn up to £50 a month.

Instead of being able to cash out as money or vouchers, Zipzero works a bit differently to the other apps.

You’re able to reduce the cost of your household bills, like your water, gas and electric, TV/internet/phone and council tax.

Read up on our Zipzero review for more details about how the app works.

Shopprize

For those of you who were checking my counting skills, yes there are more than 5 apps here.

Shopprize is not available to download anymore.

The reason we’re still including Shopprize (if you’re already downloaded it) is more of a warning to current users.

If you delete the app, you won’t be able to download it again from the Android store. But, you should still be able to use it (for the time being anyway).

Earn Money Shopping App

With the app, you scan photos of your shopping and save up points which you can swap for Amazon vouchers or use them for daily sweepstakes and giveaways.

It doesn’t take too long to collect points but you’re only able to put 5 receipts through a day.

Cash App Earn Money

Please remember, while it’s a great way to boost the pennies in your pockets, these apps may not be around forever.

If any of the companies were to go bust then you’d lost any points or earnings in the app. Therefore, it’s best to cash out as soon as you’re able to, rather than leaving any vouchers or cash saved up in the app.

If you’re a wombler please do check the terms and conditions of the apps.

Many of them state that you need to use personal receipts (or receipts from your household). If they think you’ve been scanning other people’s receipts (like from wombling) they make close your account down.
